All new Toyota Yaris to launch this May.

Toyota Yaris was first spotted at Auto Expo 2018 held in Greater Noida. Looking at Yaris one can confidently say with Yaris Toyota is aiming to target upper echelons of C-segment like Honda City, Volkswagen Vento and Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. Toyota is known for its premium cars like Fortuner, Land Cruiser, Innova and Corolla but certainly in the mid-range segment Toyota has not performed well as cars like Toyota Etios Liva, Etios cross were a total failure. This time Toyota is ready to show its presence in the market with Yaris.  Dealers have started booking for the upcoming compact sedan for a taken amount of 50,000 rupees.
The compact sedan looks like a scaled version of Corolla Altis and carries Toyota’s global design language. So, in this article I will be briefing you with each and everything you need to know about Yaris. This article will be divided into 3 segments engine, looks and features. So, without wasting more “Let’s Talk About Tech”.

1.       Engine
All new Toyota Yaris comes with a 1.5-liter dual VVT-i petrol engine which produces 108 PS of max power and a peak torque of 140NM and is mated to a 6-speed gearbox or a 7-speed CVT auto with paddle shifters. There are some speculations that Yaris will be available in 2 variants i.e. VX and V and another variant might be added in future. This engine also comes in present Toyota Etios models. Whereas its competitor Honda City tried and tested petrol variant produces 117 PS of max power and a peak torque of 145NM. So, here City totally beats Yaris.

2.       Looks
By looking at Yaris anybody would recognize that it carries Japanese genes. Stronger shoulder line which has a forward lean stance. When you look at the pre-face lifts it reminds of Corolla Altis. Side profile of Yaris has been made to look sporty and that is why it comes with sports 15-inch alloy wheels. Yaris also gets flared wheel arches and a strong baseline which in turn works with the flared wheel arcs to give the sedan sport credentials. Yaris gets a massive rear light package that is both wrapped around and has LED inserts.
The best in class interior of Toyota Yaris.

When you look at the interior you will notice is similar to 2014 Corolla both in terms of design and features. Two tone style with beige and black being the main colour. Dashboard plastic is fashioned in silver to contrast the beige and silver combination. It has a 7-inch infotainment system which gesture control system for audios and in-built navigation system. Power adjustable driver seats. Roof mounted air recirculation vent with a LED head light for rear passengers.

3.       Features
Toyota Yaris with a bunch of segment first features and these features include 7 airbags,  tire pressure monitoring system, climate control (on high variant), paddle shift on CVT, faux leather seats, projector headlamps, shark fin antenna, rear camera, ABS with EBD, parking sensor upfront, cruise control, disc breaks on all four wheels, steering mounted controls, daylight running lights mounted on bumpers, steering mounted controls, rear power outlet with start stop button, parking lights on the inner side of the head lamp cluster. The 7-inch infotainment system comes with Apple car play and Android auto. Most of these features are new to the segment and Yaris is the first car to debut with them.

Personal Reviews
Toyota is one the biggest player in automobile industry and with Yaris they have decided to rule over C-segment. Toyotas earlier cars like Fortuner, Innova, Corolla are ruling their own segments and are pretty well established in market and this gives Yaris a plus point. But when we look on other side of the page there is Honda City which itself is a brand so if Toyota wants to win this game they will have to launch Yaris at price less than Honda City whose price ranges from 9.68 lakhs to 15.68 lakhs.
