Finally, Nokia 6 2018
version sales started earlier this week in India and Xiaomi Redmi Note-5 Pro got its first contender. I know some of you
guys won’t agree with this opinion of mine but wait, let me tell you why? See,
I am an Indian and in India you will find nearly 2% of people who trust
smartphone companies like Huawei,
Gionee, Micromax, Oppo and Vivo which
makes Nokia 6 2018 an only contender until Motorola
launch its Moto G6. One more reason
which I could give you guys is that Nokia is one of the most trusted brand in
India and Xiaomi just became the largest smartphone selling company in India this
makes comparison quite obvious 😉.
I also haven’t posted any review of Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro so
today I will be reviewing both the phones today and will also be comparing them
consequently, so sit back and read till end. I will be dividing this article
into 3 segments Looks, Camera and
features. So, “Let’s Talk
About Tech”.
1.
Look’s
Just like previous Nokia 6 the all new
Nokia 6 2018 is also milled from a single aluminium block of 6000 series and a
metal plate is also added inside for rigidity. When you hold the phone, you can
feel how solid it is. Unlike other smartphones this phone doesn’t have curves
and still is very handy. When you hold it in hand you will notice weight. New
Nokia 6 2018 is chunky at 8.6 mm thick. Nokia 6 now comes with a 5.5 inch
full-HD display having an aspect ratio of 16:9 and a pixel density of 1080*1920.
The screen is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. When you look at the front
you get Nokia branding at upper right corner. This time fingerprint is shifted
to back of the phone and come with different colour grills according to colour
combination but there is no neutral colour combo sadly. This phone really looks
classy from back as it’s an original design, long elongated camera bump is the
reason for this.
Now, talking of Xiaomi Redmi Note-5 Pro when
you look at it you can tell that the phone is inspired from iPhone X. Redmi
Note 5 Pro has a full metal body and is light when you compare it with Nokia 6,
but it is not as strong as the later. It is only 8.05 mm thick. Xiaomi Redmi
Note-5 Pro comes with a 5.99-inch screen having an aspect ratio of 18:9 and a
pixel density of 1080*2160. According to https://www.gsmarena.com/
it comes with an unspecified version of Gorilla Glass. The Redmi Note 5 Pro is
having touchscreens capacitive buttons unlike previous Xiaomi budget phones. On
the back there is a fingerprint sensor which can be reached easily and a dual
camera setup just like iPhone X.
Verdict- Though being copied in design I think
Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro wins the war here as it has some modern plunge added to
it. Nokia 6 looses it because in these days also it comes with a 16:9 aspect
ratio screen which is quite out dated and is not an eye catcher.
2.
Camera
Nokia 6 comes with a 16 MP camera having an
aperture of f/2.0 and is powered by Zeiss optics and an 8MP front camera with
same aperture. Nokia has always been known for its great camera performance and
Nokia 6 proves it too. Despite having a single camera, it is able to produce
some really good images. Nokia 6 also comes with a bothie feature in which you
can record videos and capture simultaneously with both cameras.
Whereas the Redmi Note-5 Pro is powered by
a 12+5 MP dual-camera setup at the rear and 20 MP selfie camera at the front. Both
the cameras are capable of taking portrait shots. Unlike Nokia, Xiaomi has
always been criticized for its poor camera performance but since Xiaomi Redmi
A1 they have improvised their cameras and you will notice it when you will use
the phone. There are lot of features in the camera app which will definitely stop
you from downloading any 3rd party camera app.
|
Verdict- When you compare both these phones
side by side you will notice that Note 5 Pro images are little bit on the
warmer side where as Nokia 6 images are quite real and not well exposed. In low
light conditions both phone seems struggle a little bit. Here I will announce
Nokia 6 as the winner because despite of having a single camera it performed better
than Note-5 Pro but surely if you are a portrait fan go with the Pro.

3.
Features
New Nokia 6 comes with Snapdragon 630 SoC which
is mated up with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which is expandable up
to 128 GB via microSD card. I don’t know why Nokia haven’t launched its 4 GB
variant its really surprising. Nokia 6 is an Android one smartphone and comes
with Android Oreo out of the box. The USP of being an Android One smartphone is
that you will be getting Android updates as soon as they roll out. It is
powered by a 300mAh battery.
Talking of Redmi Note 5 Pro you get a Snapdragon
636 SoC and come in 2 variants one is 4 GB RAM and 64 GB storage the other one
is 6 GB RAM and 64GB storage. Tis phone comes with Android 7.1 Nougat version which
runs on MIUI 9.1 version. The Pro is powered by a 4000mAh battery.
Here is a processor comparison of both the
phones.

Verdict- Here Redmi Note 5 Pro is the winner as it is
having more processor, more battery and more sensors.
Personal Review
Personally saying I am a Nokia fan I am really sad to say
that Nokia 6 lost this battel in each and every aspect I would have suggested this
phone if it was launched at slightly lower price may be some in between 13k-14k
but it comes with a price tag of 17k which is more than Note 5 Pro as it comes
at a price of 15k (4Gb variant). I don’t know what Nokia is doing but I am
saddened by the fact that Nokia has not learned anything from past and is making
the same mistake again.
